The Moonridge Animal Park is home for injured, displaced and endangered species. Most of the wildlife cannot be released due to their physical or social handicaps. Many are not able to hunt for food, defend themselves, or recognize their enemies; some have no fear of humans. The most famous residents are the three Grizzly Bears that were saved after being scheduled for destruction in Yellowstone National Park. As part of the Species Survival Plan applicable to severely endangered species, a Snow Leopard arrived February 27, 1997. This white feline with black spots is one of 329 in captivity, of which there only about 1,000 remaining in the world. The Park is home to Black Bears, Cougars, Bobcats, Wood Bison - also Raptors, Foxes, Wolves, Coyotes, Raccoons, Ringtails, and Skunks.
Our location is across the street from Bear Mountain Ski Resort where Goldmine Street and Moonridge Road intersect. The hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 7 days a week May thru October. The park isduring winter (November to April) only on weekends and holidays, weather permitting, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Generally, it is a self guided tour, but docent tours are available for larger groups.
