How to Configure Trumpet Winsock for Big Bear Net:

1. Install Trumpet Winsock into the c:\winsock directory.
2. Using (F)ile and (N)ew, create a new program icon for tcpman.exe, which is in the /winsock directory.
3. Run TCPMAN, and in (F)ile, (S)etup, configure the following:

IP address:

    Big Bear Net accounts have dynamically assigned IP so do not fill it in. It will be added automatically by the log on script.

Name Server:

MTU:

    512

TCPRWIN:

    2048

TCPMSS:

    496

Demand Load Time Out:

    5

CPRTO Max:

    60

Netmask:

    0.0.0.0

Default Gateway:

    0.0.0.0

Internal PPP:

    Check this box (Big Bear Net provides PPP connection)

SLIP Port:

    Enter the COM port number your modem is on e.g. enter 2 if your modem is on COM2

Baud rate:

    Suggested for 28.8 kbps modems 38400 Suggested for 14.4 kbps modems 19200

Hardware Handshake:

    Check this box unless your modem behaves better without it

Van Jackobson Compression:

    Have this box checked.

From Trumpet Winsock, select (D)ialer and (L)ogin, to log into Big Bear Net.
