Fire Protection District
Overview:
The Fire Protection District provides an all-risk / full
service organization which serves and protects the community through
public education, fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency rescue,
disaster preparedness, and other services in order to minimize the loss of
life and property, damage to the environment, and adverse economic impacts
due to natural or manmade emergencies of events. The
District's boundaries currently incorporate approximately nine square
miles. The annual call volume has grown to 1,513 in 1999, up from 1,425 in
1998, with an average travel time of 5.51 minutes from receipt of alarm at
the fire station. Fiscal Year 1999-2000 Objectives:

Conduct performance evaluations for department
personnel by September 1, 1999.

Develop and implement a department training manual by
December 1, 1999.

Revise the City Disaster Plan by January 1, 2000.

Update department job descriptions by February 1,
2000.

Seek state and local adoption of the City Disaster
Plan by February 1, 2000.

Graduate fire department personnel from paramedic
training April 1, 2000.

Fire station construction project administration by
June 1, 2000.
